KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 17.18 g, 5 h), Ekbatana, struck under Seleukos I, circa 311-295. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, horned head of a horse to left; below throne, ΔΙ. Price 3914. SC 202.6. Very rare. Struck from a somewhat worn obverse die and with some cuts and scrapes, otherwise, good very fine.
